Joe Cafaro has been making wine in the Napa Valley for more than thirty-seven years. He has held winemaker positions for wineries including Chappellet, Keenan, Acacia, Robert Sinskey, Oakville Ranch Vineyard and Dalla Valle, and currently serves as the winemaker for Emilio’s Terrace. His dream of producing wine under his own label came to fruition in 1986. He added complete control to his dream when he acquired a small parcel of land on the eastern hills south of the Stag’s Leap appellation and planted a vineyard in 1996.
Cafaro Cellars currently produces a limited amount (roughly 3,000 cases total) of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah and all of the wines reflect Joe’s style of balanced elegant, wines that compliment a meal. Wines that are both elegant and graceful will age well and can be enjoyed with a friends at dinner tonight.
When Joe is not roaming the vineyard, poking around in the cellar, or visiting key accounts he enjoys spending time with his three children and pursuing a wide range of interests including kayaking, motorcycles, and scuba diving.
